Sensory processing

Our team run online workshops on sensory processing. aiming to help you to understand the sensory needs that a child or young person may be experiencing, and offering practical advice on how to help a child or young person to manage these on a daily basis. They are designed for parents and carers and those working within early years settings and schools, and young people themselves.

Please visit our Occupational Therapy service page for more information and to register.

What is sensory processing?

Sensory processing is the everyday unconscious way our brain takes in information from the environment and our bodies.

The brain filters and organises that information, enabling us to make physical, behavioural or emotional responses. Good sensory processing forms the baseline of all learning experiences.

This video is an introduction to sensory processing and the different senses.
