New campaign to aid children's speech development

Hungry little minds

The Department for Education has launched a three year campaign to encourage parents and carers to adopt positive activities and behaviours to boost children’s communication, language and literacy development.

The campaign aims to help parents understand that they have a massive impact on their child’s learning. Reading, playing and chatting with them are simple things they can do to help them develop, even when they are too young to say much back.

Children soak up every little bit of stimulation you can give them. It all goes in. Every single word. The Hungry Little Minds campaign is empowering parents and carers to set their child up nicely for school with access to fun tips and activities, sorted by age range, from their website, where you can also search for activities going on in your area.
