We are pleased to announce a brand new Health Inequalities Nurse role for Berkshire Healthcare. The Health Inequalities Nurse works across Berkshire focusing on immunisations for vulnerable and hard to reach 0-19 year olds and is based in Whitley, Reading.
The Health Inequalities Nurse will be heavily involved in engaging, educating and empowering families about immunisations, and raising the awareness of and promoting immunisations generally through partnership working Berkshire-wide. The Health Inequalities Nurse can administer immunisations for 5-19 year olds for hard to reach and vulnerable children and young people who are struggling to access their GP surgery – this includes home and community visits.
For children under five years old the focus will be on empowering and educating families about immunisations – this will be done through speaking to the family over the phone or face-to-face via home or community visits. Administering immunisations for under 5 year olds is commissioned by GP surgeries, but the Health Inequalities Nurse will provide any other support.
Contact
The Health Inequalities Nurse can be contacted directly by families Monday to Friday.
