Becoming a new parent is life-changing. It can also be exhilarating, exhausting, and extremely challenging.
The #ReadyforParenthood campaign aims to support new parents, running across local authorities, NHS organisations and local support groups. Each month focuses on a different aspect of being a parent, such as developing a relationship with your baby, vaccinations, feeding, sleep, crying and looking after yourself,
“I’m delighted to support the launch of the new #ReadyforParenthood campaign, supporting families as they embark on parenthood with their new babies,” says Jenny Hughes, South East Regional Chief Midwife.
“The first days and weeks with a new baby present a range of experiences, both challenging and rewarding, and as a new parent it can be daunting finding information and support about aspects of parenting.
“There is support available from healthcare providers including midwives, maternity support workers, health visitors, GPs and mental health teams, as well as from charities and support organisations. This campaign aims to signpost to all these different opportunities for support and information, and we are delighted to have a campaign reaching across the whole of the South East Region, supporting families in our area.”
“This new campaign... provides information and signposting to new parents about all aspects of becoming a parent” says Emma Taylor, South East Maternity Voices Partnership. “It is inclusive and supportive and will include leaflets translated into many of the languages spoken across our region.
“The campaign has been co-produced with parents across the region to ensure it is relevant to their needs and interests.”
