Taking Pride in our staff and community

Our healthcare professionals are now a staple part of Reading Pride and offer a listening ear to anyone who wants to chat about any aspects of their health.

Each year we see hundreds of people on the stand, taking blood pressure, testing lung ages and speaking to people about their mental health. This year at the event in Kings Meadow we saw record numbers and identified a small proportion of people as potentially needing further treatment. They have been referred to the relevant service for them, a great opportunity to help people with potential problems get the help they need quickly.

Our stand is staffed by our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) network members and straight staff, all of whom give up their time to speak to people in our communities.
Ann Marie Davis, CBT Psychotherapist, Wokingham Team Lead for Talking Therapies and Chair of our LBGT staff network said: “Each year at Pride we hope to encourage the LGBT community to use our services and also raise awareness of mental health issues throughout the community, not just for themselves but their partners, friends and family and carers.”
